The CARE GET project

Cooperation for progress in education, intergenerational interaction, economy and technological transition was selected among the 22 most innovative projects under the second call for Innovative Actions of the European Urban Initiative (with a total budget of EUR 5,009,480). This success places Haskovo Municipality alongside cities such as Barcelona, Bologna, Athens and Rotterdam. The project is unique with its combination of health, care and nature, integrating education, technology and innovation to create new jobs and strengthen the local economy. Within the framework of the CARE GET project, the abandoned building of the former orphanage in Haskovo will be transformed into a Medico-Technology Hub, including a telemedicine center. The multifunctional spaces in this hub will be aimed at attracting, retaining and developing local talent. Shared workspaces and a digital corner will promote social integration and lifelong learning. The building will also have a wellness area, and the space around it will be designed with nature-based solutions. The diverse events and activities in the center will bring together different generations and economic sectors, contributing to the physical and mental well-being of Haskovo residents and promoting a sense of community and the city’s cultural heritage. CARE GET starts on December 1, 2024 and will continue until May 31, 2028. During its implementation, in-depth studies, economic analyses and strategies for the labor market and economic development of Haskovo will be conducted and implemented. The project is implemented by an international consortium of five countries: Bulgaria, Romania, Lithuania, Greece and Italy, whose representatives will work together to achieve innovative solutions and transfer successful practices to other EU cities.
